What is FE Choices?

This is the independent and official site for comparing performance information about all further education colleges and other organisations to receive Government funds that offer education and training to people over the age of 16. Information is provided about organisations that offer academic and vocational subjects, apprenticeships, and training on and off the job. Information is published annually about a number of different areas including:

  • How many people pass the qualification they start;
  • The views of learners who are studying or learning at an organisation about their experience;
  • Employers’ view about the service and training they have received for their staff; and
  • Information about the percentage of learners and trainees who take steps forward in learning or their employment.

What does FE Choices do for learners?

Gives learners impartial, robust and comparable information to help them make informed choices about the performance of providers.

What is the Further Education Public Information framework?

What is the Further Education Public Information framework? FE Choices is only one source of public information to help you to make choices about where to learn or train. More information is available directly from colleges and training organisations and from the Course Directory (Opens new window).

What does Learner satisfaction tell me?

This gives you information about what learners who are at the college, or training organisations thought about their experience, focusing on areas such as how the help and advice given to them when they started, the support they received whilst on their course and what they thought about the teaching.

What does Learner destinations tell me?

This is the estimated percentage of learners who moved into further education, higher education, found a job or improved their career prospects after finishing their course at an organisation.

Where can I go for more help to choose or to apply for a course?

If you require more help or advice, a wide range of support is available to you. These services can be accessed via the Useful links page.

What happens if I have a question about a college or training organisation?

If you have a question about an individual college or training organisation, please contact them directly. Contact details are given on their provider details page.

What does FE Choices do for employers?

By providing performance information about how well colleges and other organisations perform, we hope that employers will be happier with the choices they make about the provision of learning and training for their staff. We ask employers to rate the providers they use for training to directly inform other employers.

What does Employer satisfaction tell me?

This indicator is based on answers from employers to a survey asking about their experience with this organisation when they sent their staff there for training, and how they found the experience. We publish a summary of the responses to questions including an overall question on whether an employer would recommend the training provider to others.

Where can I access further advice as an employer?

Whilst FE Choices does not advise employers of the choices available to them directly, if you are looking to purchase training for your staff, there is a range of support available. On our Useful links page, directions to services that can be accessed for further advice and guidance are available.
